adv особенно, в особенности (1). Созвучные наречия especially и specially относятся к усилительным словам. Especially употребляется для выделения одного объекта при сравнении его с другими:

Children's bones especially are very sensitive to radiation — Кости детей особенно чувствительны к радиации.

Особенно часто especially употребляется с последующим прилагательным, а также перед предлогами и союзами:

especially difficult (bright, clever) — особенно трудный (яркий, умный);

especially on weak-days — особенно в будни;

especially in the South — особенно на юге.

Especially when we have visitors — Особенно когда у нас посетители.

В отличие от especially созвучное ему specially подчеркивает направленность, цель действия и соответствует русским специально/только для того, чтобы:

They came to see us specially — Они специально приехали, чтобы повидать нас.
